Welcome to the Steve Paull Guitar website. I'm a passionate guitarist and dedicated instructor with over 20 years of teaching experience. My mission is to inspire and equip guitar enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to play confidently and musically. Whether you’re just starting or seeking to refine your skills, I’m here to guide you on your musical journey.
I am a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors. The RGT are affiliated with the London College of Music who send an examiner out to New Zealand each year. The examiner visits all the main centres and oversees guitar and bass exams. Whilst the exam system may not appeal to everyone, for some students it does give them focus and is also very useful in preparation for NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3 performances when they reach High School.

Most of my lessons are 30 minutes which I find is ample time for most students.
$30 for a 30 minute lesson.
I make every attempt to re-schedule on a different day but cannot guarantee a catch-up lesson.
Generally speaking it's advisable to have your own instrument. I can provide an instrument for the lesson if necessary.
It's completely normal to hit a plateau in your progress. I suggest we identify specific areas where you're feeling stuck, whether it's a particular skill, song, or concept.
From there, we can create a personalized practice plan to address these challenges. Remember, progress can sometimes be slow, but every small step counts. Let's also incorporate some new techniques or styles to spark fresh enthusiasm and creativity in your playing. I'm here to support you, so with some focused effort, I’m confident you’ll see improvement.
Not at all! I've taught students in their 80's who've never played before. Maybe playing the guitar is something you've thought about over the years but have never got round to doing. Just give it a try. At the very least you'll have some fun learning and with a little perserverance you'll be amazed at the progress you can make.
